“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day
listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the
sky, is not a waste of time.” John Lubbock
I couldn’t believe my eyes how summer can set Varkaus ablaze now that the
weather is warm and the sun feeling it reluctant to it sleeping quarters.
That makes me feel at home this time round. One can imagine the smile that
sparks off my face every now and then if I see that colourful summer
celebration scattered all around town.
I spent most of my time on the lake side and the atmosphere there always put a
smile on my face. That reminds me also of the band which was mounted close
to my nose adjacent to the main Lutheran church during the children
celebration. The horse and the train that the children and their parents
rode on made me to swallow saliva.
In actual fact, one thing I found it very interesting and admire very much
since I came to Finland is the special attention and time parents spent on
their children, especially the men. For women, Konkonsa, know its normal but
for men, I find it very interesting and admirable, that is good of them.
Sometimes if I am in my room and I hear the lyrics of music been played
outside with parents trooping there with their kids, and the youth chilling
with their motor bikes, oh my God, I felt like flying through the windows to
the place to dance my waist off. hehe.
Actually, Finns needs to be happy because all work and no play, makes Jake a
dull boy. Winter has always been a racist to me in Finland - and I wish
summer continues like this…
Readers will agree with me that, Life without enjoyment is boring sometimes.
Frankly speaking, enjoyment always tastes sweeter after torture, and one can
think of the torture (winter)! After all “life is a brief intermission,
between birth and death”, (M.K. Soni), therefore we must enjoy it! I am not
surprise everybody is making him or herself happy. That is all life is about
especially if you have time!
In fact the happening in town and at the lake side tells it all. Personally I
don’t expect anyone to be lonely and remain indoors at this time of the
weather when the summer breeze blows off around town. Let’s go out and
chill. If you have no company, Konkonsa will keep you in company so wipe
your tears, hehehe... Let us chill but not chill our heads off as I always
say because there’s more sleep after deaths.
Lopuksi haluan toivottaa oikein hauskaa kesälomaa kaikille lukijoilleni.
Shalom!
